Tanariver County Women representative, Hon Rehema Hassan has today flagged off maiden 65 students who will be taking various short courses at Mombasa National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) college.
The 65 students were picked from the three Sub Counties which were given equal chances with strict adherence to gender equity.
NITA officials hailed the Woman Representative for sponsoring the students and promised that she will not regret the move. They also praised the cordial working relation between her office and the College.
The Women Representative in her address encouraged the youth to observe high standards of discipline and ensure they come back with certificates that if they do not get placement they can make use of the training to fend for themselves. She promised to invest in education as a means of empowering the youth and making them self reliant.
After the address the students boarded a hired school bus on standby ready to embark on the journey to Mombasa.
The Mp has paid five million for the students to cater for their tuition and accommodation, this is among many other efforts that the Mp has invested in to empower women and youth in the county.
