Water is a precious substance that meets our physical needs while at the same time being of great spiritual importance to many people. Water is also an integral part of many ecosystems that support us and a myriad of other species.
Despite the presence of the seasonal River Tana in Tanariver County, water has been acute in so many areas and residents have had to walk so many kilometers to access the same and they never get enough.
The County Government of Tanariver procured a water rig worth 70M for the purpose of drilling boreholes to salvage the water problems for tana residents.
The equipment was launched and tested at handampia village on wednesday by Water CEC Mohammed Dube.
Speaking during the luncheon of the rig, the water executive said ” the water equipment will help the county government cut on the cost of drilling wells across the county, as well as ensure that hundreds of residents from remote areas get access to the precious commodity.”
He further said that the government entered into an agreement with the suppliers for them to bring experts to test the equipment for value and proof of operation as the county lack experts who can operate the equipment and that the county will train operators for six months so that when they come back they could move around the county drilling water for the residents.
The residents of Handampia who were filled with joy thanked the county government for the precious commodity through drilling of the borehole.
