Tana River County Government Director of communication Steve Juma yesterday seemed to lose his cool in a communique seen on social media.
In the letter which has since been pulled down from the county government’s official Facebook page, the press secretary cautions members of the public against rumours of an alleged ‘imminent reshuffle’ of the county executives and chief officers.
“We are fully aware that social media is awash with propaganda, malice, lies and misleading reports about the (sic) “impending cabinet reshuffle…” Says part of the letter which Pokomo Magazine has Obtained.
“The office of the Director Governor’s Press service wishes to categorically state that the busybodies whose interest(sic)are known to themselves are out to create tension and confusion in the smooth of the Tana River County Government by peddling those rumours.” The letter goes on.
But most disturbing was the manner in which the government’s mouthpiece sought to address the public and social media users lambasted the spokesman’s choice of words.
“He is a public officer, he should carry out his duties with decorum, why is he trading insults with bloggers? That is way too low.” Remarked one social media user on Twitter.
Other social media users however expressed support for the spokesman calling upon the said bloggers to stop peddling falsehoods.
