In a statement, Tanariver County Governor, Rtd.Major Dhadho Godhana has issued an order that may lead to demolition of illegal structures in the county.
In the order, the Governor has directed owners of illegal structures built on road reserves to submit proof of land ownership, valid NEMA licence, consent issued by the county development control committee, duly approved site layout and development plan and a notification of approval within a a time scale of 14 days.
He further said that failure to provide the details needed owners will be surcharged and structures demolished.
Major centre’s like, Madogo, Bura Garsen and the County Headquarters, have been marked for the demolitions.
If the illegal structures would not have been demolished in three days from the date of the order, the county government will move in to effect the order.
The Governor has complained that the illegal structures have caused severe damages to road reserves and drainage system.
