Though the Honerable Member has not yet announced her intention to vie for the position to represent BURA Constituency, source privy to us indicates she will take that bold move soon enough.
She is likely to follow Hon. Asha Jumwa, Hon. Leisuda Leisula, Hon. Mishi Mboko and Hon. Alice Wahome who were once Women representatives, representing various counties in the August house.
Immediately after 2017 General election Hon. REHEMA HASSAN made remarks which didn’t augur well with with the Tana River county Governor Hon. Major (rtd) Dhadho Godhana Gadhae handlers. While attending JUBILEE and it’s affiliate parties she said “hata hicho kiti cha ugovernor tuliwapa ” this sparked an online debate, where pundits supporting the Governor criticized the Women representative.
The Governor is busy ‘seducing’ Orma as his 2022 running mate. He has done several meetings with the Orma elders trying to have a Pokomo-Orma coalition as his 2022 vehicle. Analysis view this as a way to tame or punish the Malokote (Wailwana) for disrespecting the coalition which helped them secure the Women representative and Deputy Governor positions.
In a way seemed to counter this Pokomo-Orma coalition move of the Governor, Garsen Member of Parliament Hon. Ali Hashaka, Galole Member of Parliament Hon. Said Hiribae ‘Posta’, Bura Member of Parliament Hon. Ali Wario ‘Fayya’ Tana River county Senator Hon. Juma Wario and The women representative are ‘working’ together they have held functions together. Analysis view this as another Pokomo-Orma 2022 coalition, where Hon. Ali Wario ‘Fayya’ has declared his gubernatorial possition interest.
Hon. REHEMA HASSAN has relocated from Malindi (Wakath House) to Madogo a move nicknamed “Moving closer to her constituency (Bura)”. The politician had an option to relocate to Garsen where she has relatives but opted Madogo.
Majority of Bura Constituency are Orma and Wardey (plus some Somali’s). The Wanyoyaya, Upcountry people (the Bara) and Wailwana who are minorities are ‘the decision makers’, they are swing votes, whichever candidate they support is likely to win.
Hon. Ali Wario has Orma influence in Bura Constituency, if he endorse Mama Rehema, plus her own Malakote votes. She has the high probability to win the seat.
The Women rep is performing well in her current position despite the limited funds allocation from the national government and she has good relationship with most of youthful pundits, making her easy to sell her ideas.
She should convince the Wanyoyaya and the upcountry’s to seal the deal if indeed she wants the seat.
Ali Wario endorsement doesn’t mean a walk in a park for her to win the Ormas votes, as former County clerk Hon. Mohamed Dube has declared his candidature.
We wish Mama Rehema all the best and we continue updating our readers if there’s any changes.
