On Saturday, thousands of Muslims attended the ceremony of late Sheikh Omar Dima in Kilindini, Kinakomba ward. The event is usually held every year to celebrate the Sheikh who was among the people who brought Islam to Pokomo land.
Omar Dima was famously known for his role in challenging the old customs of ngaji and traditional cults.
Among the changes he brought was abolishing the culture of women burying their children who died at birth, abolishing of spiritual dances such as mwaribe, disowning the ngaji among others.
On the tour, Galole MP Hon. Said Posta was among the people who attended the event. The MP has promised that he would support the event in the coming years.
