The search for the Italian Aid Worker volunteer Ms Sylvia Constanca Romano has been narrowed down to Tana Delta areas of Tana River County, so far about 23 suspects have been arrested and interrogated by Multi Agency security team conducting the operation.
On 3rd December 2018, ATPU detectives arrested a cop in Hola allegedly was on communication with one of the Chakama Attackers Mr. Said Adan Abdi.
On 4th December 2018 three suspects among them the wife of a gunman Said Adan Abdi who kidnapped the Italian Aid Worker Mrs. Rukia Nuno, the other two were Tana River Nominated MCA Dumal Haji Osman and his driver Hassan Borrow Khamis all from Garsen. Were arraigned at Malindi law court before chief Magistrate Julia Osaka.
The three were charged with aiding and abetting the commission of a terrorist act contrary to the law, and conspiracy to commit a terrorist act.
Dumal and Hassan were arrested on Saturday at ASA after aerial security team using Drone spotted and Monitored a Toyota Fielder in the area, they informed the ground team which lead to the arrest of the two and found that the vehicle was loaded with food and medical stuff, the police believed that the two were trying to supply food and medication to the abductors.
Led by Directorate of Criminal Investigation Chief investigator, Chief inspector Peter Muriithi, requested the court to give them 30 more days hold the three suspects in order to complete investigation but the court allowed the suspects to be detained for 20 days and the first mentioning of their case will be on 14th December this year.
